Post Help with IDing this 2.3 please
hey everyone I've had a 86 fi50 2wd for about 4 years now and I really like the body style and deciced I want to put a 2.3 In It to try something a little different.I just recieved a phantom engine carbed 2.3 turbo with a t5 .Block# is d8ee-6015-ba and the date mark is 0h11 so I did a little research and I think its an 1980 escort.Can someone verify and give me base hp and cheap hp bump.TIA

1978 block cast date

e ? sure it isnt a Z?

Z=mustang

E + ford engineering department

6015 = Basic part number

BE=Design Change

sounds like a plain ol 79-82 carbed turbo motor..

It would not be a good swap into a 3,900 pnd truck.

132 rated horsepower...

sleeper,

can you ID this one. it was hard to read but this is what i got. i know its a 2.3L FI turbo motor. 5-speed car.

RF E3ZE 6015 DC

the casting lower and to the right(foward toward the front of the car) is 88 AO6

my guess is a 88 t-bird bit i have absolutly no clue. just a guess.

thanks mike

thanks,

will that cause any problems during my 2.3T swap into my 89. that makes me wonder if it has forged internals. is there anything different between the 83-88 turbo engines, block wise. its go all the fuel injection stuff on it so it should be ok i guess. ill be taking it appart to make sure everything is ok.

The pistons will have a marking on the top if they are factory forged units (hard to describe kinda like a fat U shape stamped into it.Other then that use it rods and crank are the same for turbo and no turbo models!
