 Help with IDing this 2.3 please
hey everyone I've had a 86 fi50 2wd for about 4 years now and I really like the body style and deciced I want to put a 2.3 In It to try something a little different.I just recieved a phantom engine carbed 2.3 turbo with a t5 .Block# is d8ee-6015-ba and the date mark is 0h11 so I did a little research and I think its an 1980 escort.Can someone verify and give me base hp and cheap hp bump.TIA Jason

 Re: Help with IDing this 2.3 please
1978 block cast date
e ? sure it isnt a Z?
Z=mustang
E + ford engineering department
6015 = Basic part number
BE=Design Change
sounds like a plain ol 79-82 carbed turbo motor..
It would not be a good swap into a 3,900 pnd truck.
132 rated horsepower...

sleeper,
can you ID this one. it was hard to read but this is what i got. i know its a 2.3L FI turbo motor. 5-speed car.
RF E3ZE 6015 DC
the casting lower and to the right(foward toward the front of the car) is 88 AO6
my guess is a 88 t-bird bit i have absolutly no clue. just a guess.
thanks mike

The pistons will have a marking on the top if they are factory forged units (hard to describe kinda like a fat U shape stamped into it.Other then that use it rods and crank are the same for turbo and no turbo models!
